Kitchen Science at Wellington Silicon Oasis - Try these at home!

Coordinator, Lewis Miller and the Primary Science department at Wellington Silicon Oasis hosted parents and kids to a fun-filled afternoon of experiments and exploration, using common materials found in the kitchen, so that families could return to try this at home! Tapping into students’ natural curiosity, the Primary Science team guided small groups through a variety of practical investigations, and modeled for parents how to use the basic scientific enquiry method.Parents strengthened their capacity to support science at home, while students developed their knowledge of science, prac

A mixed ensemble comprised of students from Dubai Modern High School, Jumeirah College and Our Own English High School Sharjah Boys moved us to dream of the heights we could reach with their version of Demi Lovato‘s Skyscraper. Challenging students to “talk about and share” learning with their parents and to ask for “encouragement,” their message and passion underlined the focus of the day, that when engaged in learning together with parents, students reach greater achievement.
